How many times do you use please and thank yous and “that was AWESOME!” in your emails to your outsourced help?
It really seems almost too simple to mention, but a little encouragement goes a long way in building and maintaining a strong team.
So, really what does this mean?
Well, let’s face it, IMing and email can send a lot of mixed messages and can even cause problems because you’re not able to communicate in the natural ways. A smile that says “thanks”. A voice that is warm and kind. You may be coming across as cold and not even realize it.
I was having this discussion just the other day with a group of friends, and it was so funny when one sister told the other that she always typed in all CAPS and felt that her sister was constantly screaming at her whenever she would email her. Funny — unless someone gets really offended and then you might find yourself in hot water when you didn’t even know you were being rude.
Not sure if you’re sending the right message?
Add more encouragement friendly words in your emails, and smiley faces are great too
Afraid you’ll forget? Write yourself a note and put it somewhere close to your monitor (something like — remember to be kind or mind your manners).
Thanks for reading, by the way.
